Why it is ours

A flavor-forward chili increasingly used in modern Black American cooking that draws on global ingredients, adding heat and depth to grilled and roasted dishes.

What it does

Calabrian chilies carry moderate capsaicin for TRPV1-driven vasodilation, metabolic support, and anti-inflammatory benefit. When packed in olive oil, the fat-soluble carotenoids become more bioavailable and the olive oil itself adds heart-protective monounsaturated fat and polyphenols — a synergistic pairing for cardiovascular health.

How it is cooked

Use the oil-packed paste or whole chilies to season grilled fish, chicken, vegetables, and sauces. The oil they sit in is flavorful and useful. Check for added salt in jarred versions.
