The clear, remarkably stable oil pressed from moringa seeds — so resistant to going rancid it was used for perfume and lamps in antiquity, and so high in oleic acid it rivals olive oil.
Moringa is one of the most actively revived ancestral foods in Black wellness circles; ben oil extends that revival from the leaf and powder to the seed's pressed oil.
Ben oil (so named for the behenic acid it contains) is over 70% oleic acid — the cardioprotective monounsaturated fat of the Mediterranean pattern — paired with an unusual oxidative stability that lets it keep for years without turning. That stability, plus its tocopherol and sterol content, makes it both a heart-supportive cooking and finishing oil and a superb skin oil for the dryness, eczema, and barrier issues common to Black skin. It comes from the same moringa tree whose leaves are already a celebrated nutrient source in West African and diaspora health — the whole plant, leaf to seed, as medicine.
Cold-press from dried moringa seeds. Use cold-pressed grade for dressings, finishing, and skin; it tolerates moderate cooking heat better than most plant oils thanks to its stability. Store at room temperature away from light.
