Green Tea

EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) is one of the most studied polyphenol compounds for cardiovascular health, blood glucose management, and cancer risk reduction. The L-theanine provides calm focus without the anxiety of coffee.

Why it is ours

Available everywhere at low cost. The lemon-green tea combination is a simple, accessible, high-yield daily practice.

What it does

EGCG reduces LDL oxidation — the specific process that causes arterial plaque buildup. Reduces fasting glucose and improves insulin sensitivity. L-theanine combined with caffeine produces calm, sustained focus without the cortisol spike from coffee alone — directly relevant for cortisol-mediated hypertension. Meta-analyses show reduced cardiovascular mortality and cancer risk with regular consumption.

How it is cooked

Steep at 160-180F (not boiling — boiling water destroys catechins). 2-4 minutes. 2-3 cups daily is the research-supported amount. Add lemon — vitamin C increases catechin absorption by 4x. Do not add milk — dairy proteins bind to catechins and reduce absorption.
