APEX Legacy · a way of life

Bananas

The most eaten fruit in Black households. Affordable, available everywhere, and genuinely good for blood pressure.

Why it is ours

Bananas are the default fruit in Black households across income levels. Accessibility and price make them one of the most democratic health foods available.

What it does

A medium banana delivers 422mg potassium — meaningful daily contribution toward the 3,500-4,700mg target that reduces hypertension risk. Black Americans have statistically lower potassium intake, which amplifies sodium's damage.

How it is cooked

Eat as-is. Add to oatmeal, smoothies, or mash into overnight oats. Green bananas have higher resistant starch and lower glycemic impact.
