Why it is ours

A widely available colored whole rice that broadens low-glycemic grain choices for Black households.

What it does

Whole red rice keeps its bran, delivering fiber, magnesium, iron, zinc, and proanthocyanidin polyphenols with documented antioxidant and lipid-lowering activity. Lower glycemic load than white rice supports blood-sugar regulation. The red pigment concentrates in the bran layer milled away in white rice. Gluten-free.

How it is cooked

Rinse, soak 30 minutes, cook 1:2.25 rice to water, 35-45 minutes, rest 10. Stays firm and separate.
